I’ve written a post about how you can register an iTunes App Store account without credit card. Thanks for all the positive comments and praise.
As I read the comments of the post today, quite a number of readers mentioned the procedures no longer work on iTunes 10. There is no “None” option even they followed the procedures precisely. The post was written nearly two years ago. So the procedures were tested on older version of iTunes. With increasing comments complaining about the procedures on iTunes 10, I just tried to register another iTunes App Store account again and see if the “None” option is still there.
I used my iMac with iTunes 10.1.1 installed for the test. It turns out I have no problem registering a new account without credit card. The “None” option is still here. Apparently, it’s unrelated to the iTunes version.

So why can’t you see the “None” option? I can think of two possible reasons.
First, you must download a FREE application to register an account. The “None” option will not be available if you’ve selected a paid app. That makes sense as Apple requires you to provide your credit card information to purchase the app. So make sure you download a FREE app (e.g. Skype or Angry Birds Lite).
The other possible reason is that the App Store in your country does not support the “None” option. I do not have a full list of countries with the “None” option support. From my test, however, you can register an iTunes account without credit card in the App Store of U.S., U.K., Japan, China and Hong Kong. Thus, if you can’t find the “None” option, you may try to register the account in other country. In iTunes 10, you can select the “Change Country” option to switch to App Store in other country.

Does these tips help and resolve your issue? Feel free to leave me comment and share your experience.
